Our very own boutique manager, Joy, is a hobby-artist who loves creating greeting cards and small works of art. She enjoys mixed-media, typically layering watercolor paintings with pen, pencil, ink, or acrylic paint pen markings. Painting an doodling can be very therapeutic. It’s a great way to de-stress after a long day or a long week! For this class, Joy will share some of what she’s learned and teach a few basics so you can create your own beautiful mixed media card. Follow along as she walks you through a basic floral greeting card, or branch out and create your own thing.

All supplies will be provided. Make up to 2 cards while you’re here. You can customize your greeting, or add no message at all. Your card can truly be whatever you want it to be. Wish your mom a happy Mother’s Day, congratulate your friends on their marriage or new baby, say a simple thank-you, or let someone know you’ve been missing them. This is your opportunity to get creative, relax, and have fun. We’re offering this class for FREE, but donations to Women at Risk, International are always welcome. Registration is required because space is limited.

Shopping in the boutique will be available before and after the event, and there also may be some time to peruse the store while you’re waiting for paint to dry. Make sure to check out our recently discounted merchandise, in addition to all the new items we’ve received in recent weeks! We carry hand-made jewelry, accessories, toys, ornaments, and more. All items we sell are made by & sold in support of at-risk individuals or human trafficking survivors. Outdoor Market 2025 at The WAR Chest Boutique

At the WAR Chest Boutique’s Outdoor Market, many assorted items will be for sale under the gondolas out in our front yard, including sample jewelry and imperfect items at greatly reduced prices.

Outdoor Market Hours:
Monday through Friday 10-4:30*
Saturday 10-2:30*

*A half-hour before the boutique closes, we start bringing items inside. You’re still welcome to shop the items until we close, whether they’re indoors or outside. If bad weather is predicted, the outdoor market items will remain on display inside the boutique rather than in our front yard under the gondolas.

What’s for sale outside?
You will find jewelry, scarves, toys, ornaments, fabric, home décor, craft supplies, donated jewelry, and more, as supplies last. All of your purchases will go back to supporting survivors and at-risk individuals.

On Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, the WAR Chest Boutique is hosting the S.T.A.N.D. Classes.

S.T.A.N.D. Classes
S – Safety Awareness
T – Trafficking Signs
A – Age Appropriate
N – No (okay to say no)
D – Determination

These Classes were created and designed by Liz Midkiff, WAR, Int’l Ambassador, mother of two young boys, and human trafficking survivor, along with Rebecca McDonald, founder & president of WAR, Int’l. The classes are conducted by Liz.

Liz’s passion is two-fold. She seeks to speak truth to the upcoming generations as they navigate growing up in today’s social media culture as well as to give voice to the once voiceless by highlighting the incredible work of their hands.

Our S.T.A.N.D. Classes

Some people might hear about the S.T.A.N.D. Classes and assume they are solely focused on human trafficking prevention.

While that is an important theme, the Classes go far beyond that, promoting “all-around safety” by equipping kids with essential life skills. Your kids will learn about relationships, critical thinking, acting confidently rather than fearfully, and discerning right from wrong even in complex, grey-area situations.

Why wait until your kids are thirteen to teach these vital skills when we know they’re exposed to challenging topics as young as three? We need to prepare and empower them now. By doing so, if the day comes when they or a friend face a difficult situation, they’ll be ready to STAND with confidence rather than fear.

Here is an overview of the Classes presented by Rebecca McDonald and Liz Midkiff.

Bring your kids and teens to learn about trafficking and make a hand-made bracelet. Both Classes are open to both boys and girls.

Note ~ Parent/caretaker is allowed to sit in the Class with the attendee if they would like but it is not required.
