#16 – Delighting in our precious Sweetie
Spring 2024
Sweetie’s life has been a rollercoaster lately—so full of hope yet burdened by much hardship. The God of Miracles is sustaining her against impossible odds. Once beaten, tied to a pole, and condemned to a life of silently accepting abuse, Sweetie is now enrolled at a boarding school where she is learning and growing into her incredible gifts. And oh, what gifts does she have! Sweetie is independent, fiery, and beautiful. She is a gifted leader, student, and classical Indian dancer. There is so much in store for her precious life.
Thanks to your generosity, Women At Risk, International (WAR, Int’l) has paid for Sweetie’s first semester at boarding school and we are committed to seeing her through to the end. You can continue giving to her education fund here! While attending school is both a blessing and an opportunity, it is also a scary change. In preparation for the transition, we bought her special bedding and sewed her name into it. Our hope is that every night, when Sweetie crawls into bed, she will know that the whole WAR family is cheering her on. We pray that she will know that she is never alone—that just as her name is embroidered on her covers, it is also written on the palms of her Mighty God. She is a daughter, and she will never be forsaken.
Recently married to a new man, Sweetie’s mom has abandoned her, afraid of what might happen if her new husband finds out about her child. This has taken a toll on precious Sweetie, who is surrounded by kids who go home to “real families” during school breaks. We are committed to raising enough funds so that she can always go home to her foster family, but we know that the “orphan spirit” is pervasive and persistent. Please pray against the phantom of abandonment in Sweetie’s life.
While Sweetie is strong and resilient, the obstacles in her path are many. She needs our committed help and support. Sweetie’s future hinges on the promises of the Waymaker. He has invited us to be the hands and feet of the miracle He is working in Sweetie’s life. We beg you to join our fight for Sweetie’s freedom—in prayer and in generosity.
