Rebecca McDonald, founder and president of Women At Risk, International (WAR, Int’l), will be hosting this month’s Zoom.
At WAR, Int’l, the survivors we serve will always remain the heartbeat of our mission.
The Backbone of WAR, Int’l: Volunteers • Donors • Prayer Warriors
For the October Light Up Your World Zoom, we are shining a spotlight on the generosity that fuels our mission—our donors. Their gifts make rescue, restoration, and empowerment possible every single day. Join us to hear directly from one of our donors about why they give, how they see lives transformed through their support, and the powerful impact that generosity creates for at-risk women, men, and children. You’ll be inspired by their stories and encouraged by the reminder that together, we can make a lasting difference.

No longer do we have the luxury of deciding whether or not we need to know about human trafficking. Learn how to become a circle of protection around the loved ones in your life by coming to one of our Civilian First Responder (CFR) conferences. Here, you will learn what makes a community susceptible to trafficking, how to identify a victim, how to respond to and report suspicious activity, and more. Discover helpful tips, action plans, and ways to protect the innocent.
This highly sought-after conference brings the U.S. government, law enforcement officers, human trafficking survivors, and the president of Women At Risk, International into one room to educate communities on this dangerous crime.
Three Good Reasons to Host or Attend a CFR Event
- You will learn to recognize the signs of trafficking in your community
- You will learn healthy ways to respond to crisis situations
- You will learn how to share this information with community members, of any age

Event Details
Treat yourself or someone else (or both of you!) to a fun girls’ day out! This class would make a great present for someone who likes to paint, or wants to learn to paint. No previous skill is required. Come as you are! You will be led step by step to create a small masterpiece you can hang in your home, workplace, or give as a gift.
Our very own boutique manager, Joy, is a hobby-artist who loves to unwind and relax by painting and drawing. She enjoys exploring various art mediums including watercolor, gouache, acrylic paint & markers, alcohol markers, and colored pencils. A few months ago, she hosted a “make your own mixed media greeting card” class at the WAR Chest Boutique and it was a big hit. Mixed-media is her favorite, layering ink or acrylic over watercolor, or more recently, using alcohol markers and colored pencils together. This time around, she’ll be instructing a class on how to make an acrylic painting on canvas focusing on the theme: There is Power in Just One. She’ll share a couple of compelling stories which inspired this idea during the class, and hopefully the painting will serve as a reminder that though you are only one person, you can make a difference. One person matters. And, in fact, helping even one person can have a ripple effect far beyond what you can imagine.
Date: Saturday, January 31, 2026
Time: 10:30am to 12:30pm
Price: $30*
Registration required, sign up today!
Ages: Adults and Teens welcome. Wonderful girls’ day out event.
**Cost includes all art supplies necessary, as well as refreshments (coffee, tea, bagels & fruit). You will also receive a complementary free 30-day trial of the Cupixel app, which pairs state-of-the-art technology with live and on-demand content enabling anyone to experience the joy and satisfaction of creating gallery-worthy art, regardless of their artistic skill. Cupixel has kindly donated some of their proprietary device stands so we can use their tracing technology during this class. If you do not bring a smartphone or tablet with you, we will provide an alternate way you can trace the design on your canvas, but Joy will encourage you to try their app if you can. (It’s a lot of fun!) She’s excited to be able to share it with you. We thank Cupixel for their kind donation! If you wish to continue creating art after the class, you’ll find loads of inspiration through their app. Beyond the 30 day trial, you’ll have the option to continue with a paid membership. And keep your eyes peeled for future Paint with Joy classes at the WAR Chest Boutique.
Location:
War Chest Boutique
2790 44th St SW
Wyoming, MI 49519
Note: All art supplies will be provided. However, we recommend you wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy in, or bring an apron to protect your clothing from unwanted paint. We will be using acrylic paints for this project, and you’ll be able to customize the color scheme.
Shopping in the boutique will be available before and after the event. All class participants will be offered 10% off one item at regular price on the day of the class. The boutique opens at 10:00 and closes at 3:00 on Saturdays.
We can’t wait to see you and your wonderful creations!
