People eat, drink, and bond while local businesses thrive from incoming crowds. But another lucrative business booms beneath the seedy underbelly of these events: human trafficking. The energy and chaos provide perfect breeding grounds for this criminal enterprise. Save Our Adolescents from Prostitution (SOAP) strives to combat this problem. Volunteers tack labels to bars of soap, branding them with the National Human Trafficking Hotline number (888.3737.888). The soaps are then distributed to at-risk hotels and motels at large-scale events. After facing another round of exploitation, victims may slip into the bathroom for a moment of solitude, find a SOAP bar, and reach out for help.
