My Own Personal Jihad

On September 11th, the world of Islam called the Muslim world to "Jihad," a war against evil as they perceived it. "Jihad" in Islam has always been a call to war, to action, or an inner struggle to be battled. Perhaps this is my own "jihad" against the evils perpetrated on women.

I am not going to blow anything up to get attention, but I am calling you to stand up and face this evil by ripping away the shrouds of ignorance and apathy. Since the day when a 14-year-old girl was thrown into my 14-year-old life, I have been on a personal mission to wrap arms of love around any woman who comes across my path.

Now I am calling on you to join me from the sanctity of your homes to love a wounded world. Women need a voice, not a feminist voice but a feminine voice. If we are married to men we love and respect and raising sons and daughters, we feel on some level that extremes have been tolerated in our culture that bash the men we love and demean them as if this is all their fault.
