| A "Rush Against Human Trafficking" |
|
January 12, 2010 Haitian life was forever changed when a 7.0 earthquake shook Port-au-Prince to new realities. Devastation has continued to run rampant through the land as nations rush to aid one of the most impoverished lands of our time. Although much aid has been collected, Haiti continues to see much loss and destruction. Families have been ripped apart, criminals are running free, and children are being preyed upon. Women At Risk, International has heard the cries of Haiti’s women and children. A fund has been started to extend our circles of love and protection to the people of Haiti. Help us in our “Rush Against Human Trafficking” as women and children who no longer have families are being victimized and used. Our funds will be distributed to local Haitain pastors and humanitarian workers that will be staying to pick up the pieces long after the big organizations have left and rushed to the next disaster. Our experience is that the deepest wounds are often those that happen when all the first rush of help is over and the next crisis hits the globe. Suddenly people newly dependent on aid, are abandoned and left to cope with no infrastructure. Our solid belief in sustainability drives a very different approach to aid then the traditional humanitarian organization. We will be investing in help that is long term, job related, and truly sustainable. We will not be the welfare relief. There are plenty of big groups throwing money at immediate needs. We will work with the Haitan leaders themselves to determine long term solutions. Click Here to donate! |
